The department of Urology offers the most advanced treatments in :

• Renal transplantation
• Prostate enlargement
• Stones in kidney, ureter, bladder and urethra
• Cancer of urogenital tract eg. Adrenal, kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, prostate etc.
• Erectile dysfunction
• Female urinary incontinence
• Paediatric urological problems

We shall now introduce Holmium Laser Treatment – the most advanced treatment for benign enlarged prostate and urinary stones available only in selected centers across the country. The latest addition to the department is also Flexible Ureteros Copy (RIRS) and Plasma Kinetic system for Saline TUR Prostate.

The Department has a modern urological operation theatre which offers complete urological services including open and laparoscopic procedures for all types of urological diseases. It also offers facilities for modern management of BHP and bladder tumours (TUR and laser), and management of urinary stone diseases with the latest techniques like PCNL, uretoscopy, RIRS with lithotripsy, crystolithotripsy and extra corporal short wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Further, the department also offers all the latest urological investigative facilities like Urodynamics and Endoscopy.

Our team is led by Prof. P.M. Deka who, with 30years of urological experience, has always taken intiative to bring North-East India’s urology sector at par with rest of the country. He is the pioneer to bring endourology for urinary stones (PCNL, URS & Lithotripsy) and Renal Transplant to North-East India. He was formerly the Head of Department of Urology, GMCH from 1996 to 2009. He is a Commonwealth fellow in Urology (UK). He had been a visiting professor in the University of Minnesota, USA. He is the President of East Zone USI and the President of Association of Surgeon of Assam. He is the active member of USI, AUA, ASI, ISOT and SUI.
